Stars on the move to Biloxi?
BaseballAmerica.com reports that Biloxi is finalizing plans for a ballpark,presumably with the idea of wooing another Southern League team to come play in their shiny new park.
So,Let the speculation begin! Which Southern League city is most likely in danger of losing a team / ponying up blackmail money? Huntsville’s at the bottom of the league in attendance,and is playing in a 25 year old park. The last 10 years or so have been marked by ownership instability,including 2 sales predicated on keeping the team in Huntsville.
Just as a final nail in the coffin…the Brewers current Player Development Contract with the Stars ends in 2010,signalling an “all-clear”for Biloxi to be up and running for 2012.
